Boxer fracture is the fracture of the metacarpal bone (comb bone) of the finger that we call the fifth finger (SMALL FINGER) close to the area where it makes the joint with the finger. It usually occurs after punching hard objects.

In suspected cases, it is useful to apply ice and hold the arm up until reaching the physician. Diagnosis is made after trauma with the presence of pain, swelling in this area, and fractures on direct radiographs.

Treatment; In appropriate cases, the fracture should be corrected by hand to make plaster splint. In some cases, the fracture is multi-part or cannot be corrected manually (or cannot maintain its position after correction). In these cases, fracture fragments may need to be fixed with wires and plates.
